Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in south-east Queensland were left experiencing outages on Monday morning after intense storm systems swept through the region, bringing strong winds topping 109km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Widespread Impact
Residents reported giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that various areas across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Victoria's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 residents in the southern state also encountered power outages after Melbourne experienced its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services received over five hundred calls for help across the region, mainly for property damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

Moist weather were expected to linger along significant areas of eastern Queensland this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
Tomorrow was predicted as the most rainy day, with continued severe weather risk anticipated across different parts of both states.

Public health experts warned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the current weather patterns.
