Patriots Match Longest Victory Run From Tom Brady Years with Win Over Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has tallied five TDs in the present year
New England equaled their best victory streak since the Tom Brady period as they defeated division opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL
Rookie Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the Patriots secured an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season
QB Drake Maye threw for 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The win increases the New England's lead at the summit of the AFC East as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the New York at the foot after slipping to two wins and eight losses
The opposing team had taken the lead at Foxborough with QB Justin Fields scoring a short rushing score to conclude the Jets' opening drive
But the home team fought back in the second period as Henderson ran in two seven-yard TDs before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Maye at the rear of the end zone midway through the third period to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a big time for him delivering, and it's been fantastic for him to keep gaining experience," Maye said of the rookie. "He aims to be great."
Justin Fields found Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Andy Borregales booted a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots wrapped up the triumph
