The rising star maintains considerable online following
Kai Trump will have multiple high-profile cheerleaders when she makes her LPGA debut this Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be the granddaughter of Donald Trump, was granted a tournament invitation to compete at the Annika competition in Florida.
The former president, an avid golfer, possesses numerous courses worldwide and often matches against Kai.
"He's fairly competent. I can't reveal details but we play tight competitions," she revealed.
The golfer shared that Trump, unable to come, told her: "Simply stay calm."
"My grandpa practically advised me to play and have fun," she added.
"In my eyes, he's just a regular grandfather. He won't be there for the tournament. He's busy with presidential duties, so he's rather occupied."
Being non-professional, Kai has competed in a mere three competitions in 2024 and has the 461st position in the American Junior Golf Association standings.
Yet she's able to get advice from golf legend, who is dating her mother.
"He represents the top athlete in the world," Kai stated.
"Furthermore, he's an even better individual. He told me to play, have fun, following the flow."
Kai will face several top competitors in the sport at the competition, featuring second-ranked Nelly Korda, British golfer Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.
The LPGA commented that her participation brings the sport to wider groups, particularly among the next generation.
Kai has substantial online presence and recently launched her own clothing and lifestyle brand.
The competition starts at 5:30 PM GMT.
